Protection Spells

PROTECTION SPELLS

Spells to Protect Pets
With some level of emotion hold the image of your kitties being safe in your
mind. Feel your desire for their continued safety. If one is gone from your side
imagine what it will be like when your pet returns. Rough out the images as
clearly as you can. You can incorporate this technique into other, more
structured, ritual forms.
To keep your cats free from fleas, soak garlic in olive oil and mix a tablespoon
of the oil in with their food daily. (I would add that, while you soak the
garlic and whenever you place it in the cat’s dish, you might visualize the
fleas jumping off the cat and never coming back.)
Take some fur of the cat (shed fur will do nicely). Tie fur into a bunch with
some red thread (silk by preference, although cotton or even acrylic will do).
Invoke the blessing of your patron deity. Place consecrated fur into a canister
(the following is imperative!). The canister must be reflective on the outside,
but NOT on the inside (If the canister is reflective on the inside, it will
focus malicious intent on the cats!). Seal the canister with red wax (just a dab
will do) Place canister next to cat’s usual exit. Red is the color of
protection, silk is an insulator, the reflective canister reflects malicious
intent, the blessing is for extra whammy to the spell.

To Safeguard the Cook and Kitchen
Aloe has long been considered a magical/medicinal plant. Grow one in your
kitchen, or as near your kitchen as you can, to safeguard you from nasty kitchen
accidents such as cuts and burns. Dab some aloe gel on your major kitchen
appliances, tools, doors and windows to safeguard them as well.
Garlic is well known for its protective qualities. Place a bulb of garlic on
your kitchen window, or hang a rope of garlic in your kitchen. Do not ever use
these for food–remember, they are there collecting negative energy.
Periodically, remove the garlic and bury in the earth. Remember to thank the
garlic and the earth for their service to you.
A Kitchen Witch Bottle will protect your food from contamination or burning.
There are many ways of constructing these, but I like to put three needles,
three pins and three iron nails into a jar filled with salt. Seal it tightly and
shake it vigorously nine times. Place three dabs of red wax along the seal.
While you’re constructing your Kitchen Witch Bottle, visualize your kitchen as a
peaceful, safe place, full of delicious aromas, and savory food. Place your
Kitchen Witch Bottle on a top shelf of your cupboard where it will not be
disturbed.

To Make a Purification Broom
From time to time it is necessary to purify our home because of sickness,
conflict in the home, etc. Many witches also like to purify the home in the
spring, and Ostara, the upcoming Spring Equinox, is a traditional time to make
our brooms and use them. I like to make short brooms for this ritual because
they’re easier to use, but you may make a longer one if you like.
You will need a straight branch, approximately 12 to 18 inches long and ½ inch
in diameter (if you can’t find a branch, a dowel will do), scissors, raffia and
a bowl of salt water. You will also need bunches of any of the following plants:
cedar, fennel, lavender, rosemary, or broom. Ideally, these plants should come
from your magickal garden.
Assemble your tools and materials and create a sacred space to work in. Charge
the branch and plant materials by taking each in turn in your hands and sending
purifying energies into them. Visualize a white cleansing light emanating from
your hands and being absorbed by the branch and plants. Take the raffia and tie
three circles on one end of the branch while you say: “I bind you in
purification.” Now take several stalks of the plant materials, leafy ends down,
and place them around the end of the branch with the three loops of raffia (to
form a round broom shape). Visualize the white light, and tie three loops around
the branch and plants. Place another layer of plant material around the branch,
tie three more loops while you visualize. Do this until your broom is as full as
you want. Tie the end of the raffia three times around the branch and plants,
pull the end through some of the loops and tie three knots. Snip off the excess
raffia. Thank the branch and plant materials for their sacrifice.
Sprinkle some of the salt water on the broom sweeps and visualize all negative
forces melting away. Now walk to your door, open it and vigorously sweep close
to the floor (you don’t actually have to sweep the floor). Visualize all
negativity being swept out the door. Now moving clockwise around the house,
sweep each door and window and at the upper and lower corners of each room. When
you’ve made your way back to the door, open it again, sweep out, then shake your
broom vigorously three times to shake away anything that stuck to it. Leave it
outside your door, do not bring it in again. At your first opportunity, take it
apart and bury all the materials.

Exercise
Sit in a comfortable place away from noise and distraction. Close your eyes and
visualize a white silken cord in your hands. Now visualize tying a knot. Watch
your fingers lacing the ends of the cord around each other, feel the cord’s
silken texture between your fingers and on the palms of your hands. Watch as you
slip one end of the cord through a loop and pull both ends into a secure, tight
knot. Do this exercise often. You will use this technique in binding spells.

KEEP YOU WELL SPELL

Keep You Well Spell
This is a little herbal charm you can use to help ward off illnesses you might pick up from other people (like a cold).
  • A small branch or twig (about 3 inches long)
  • Sprig of dried rosemary
  • Gardenia petals, fresh
  • Mint leaves, fresh
  • Light blue yarn or ribbon
  • Freshly brewed chamomile tea
Bundle up the rosemary, gardenia petals and mint leaves with the twig, and wrap several times with the blue yarn. It should be wrapped enough so that no bits or pieces fall out of the charm.
Then set out a cup of hot tea on your altar surface. Have a sip, and picture a blue sphere around you that protects from illness. Now, dip one end of the exposed twig into the tea, and say the spell:
Herbal tea,
No illness be
Protect me,
Three times three.
Then dip the other end of the charm into the tea, and repeat the words. Set the spell charm aside to dry, then finish drinking the tea.
After that, carry the charm when you go out and are concerned about catching something from other people. You can recharge it with a fresh cup of tea, and repeating the words again.

Heal a Headache
This spell for health is all about those pesky headaches that crop up at the worst time. It won't be much help for a full-blown migraine but whenever you start to feel that ache creeping into your head, try this spell
  • 3 blue candles
  • Myrrh oil
  • Mint oil
  • Rose oil
  • Silver holders for the candles
  • Something sharp to carve into the candles with
Carve the rune Sowilo into each candle (see the image at the top of this spell). Rub a drop of myrrh oil into the symbol on one candle, then the other oils on each of the other 2 candles. Set them up in an equal triangle, as best you can without finding a ruler.
Once you have annointed all 3 spell candles, light them. Now, lean over all three flames (not too close!) and feel the warmth up over your face. Concentrate on the healing energy coming from the candles, and moving through your head to heal your aches. Count to 3 9 times (like 1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3.....). Then move your face away, and blow out the candles right away to clear up the headache.

Witches Ladder

Whats a Witches Ladder?

Well you wont see one propped against a wall while a Witch repairs her cottage roof or repaints her hovels window frames !

Usually, its a length of cord tied with nine or thirteen knots.

In modern Wicca/Witchcraft they can be used to keep track of counting during chanting or meditation.

If, for example, a chant were to be repeated nine times, the Wiccan/Witch would use a cord with only nine knots and slide his or her fingers along the cord during the chant. Each time the chant is completed the Wiccan/Witch slides their fingers to the next knot until all nine knots have been encountered. Very much like a Catholic might use a rosary.

The Witch's ladder can also be used as a tool to focus one's intent for use in spell-work, especially those of protection and positivity.

The traditional form of the witch's ladder is made with red, white & black cord. But really, its up to you what you choose and colours can be chosen based upon your intent, the magick that you are working, or a variety of other reasons (including availability! ).

Many different cord types work; jute, embroidery thread/ floss, twine, string, raffia; and simply good old knitting wool . Pretty ribbons if you like!

Theyre great fun to make at Samhain – especially if you are a “Solitary” and are looking for something to do thats a bit different and leaves you with a permanent reminder of how you spent the time! Ive made these alone – or as part of a "Group working"

You will need nine items.

If you plan to use it as a meditation tool or for a specific intent, you may wish to choose 9 different (but similar size & weight) items.
Feathers are the traditional choice, but I've used small stones for mine. If you use feathers, , its best to gather them from outdoors . Go for a walk and pick up freely shed feathers from parks, beside the river, in open woodland .... The feathers, stones, or whatever objects you choose . I've seen Witches Ladders that have been made of old buttons. Someone I know used twigs carved with runes Anything may be chosen according to colour, gem or bird species (feathers or even bones) , or other correspondences.

Once you've chosen all that you wish to use you should have a selection something like this
3 pieces of cord/string/ribbon
9 small items

Any method of attachment you've elected to use –
(if you are using feathers, you may tie them into the braided cord, wire them in with thin-gauge jewellery wire or you could even purchase a package of jump rings from a craft shop. If you use the jump rings, you can pierce the shaft of the feather with the ring & thread the ring onto the cord. For stones, I'd suggest wire wrapping with jewellery wire, creating a loop to 'thread' onto the cord. I’ve tried glue but it doesn't feel “right” to me!

1. Prepare your items (feathers, stones, objects, etc.) for threading. Wire wrap your stones, or add jump rings to your feathers.

2. Place your 3 pieces of cord together so that the ends are lined up. Tie a knot at one end. It will be much easier to work with if you are able to secure this end. Try putting a safety pin through one end, then pinning the threads to something secure, so you can keep a regular tension.

3. Begin braiding together the 3 cords. At equal intervals (I usually practice by braiding the lengths that I'll be using and measuring the overall braided length, then dividing that length by 9 so that I know where to add my items.) NOTE: Keep your head in the game, here. Focus your intent clearly. Many people will chant or speak their spell while doing each step. I find it helpful to repeat my intent in a single mantra, over and over, during the making of the entire project. So for Samhain, maybe “To link me to my ancestors” or even “To keep me and mine safe this night”
You may like the “traditional” charm to use
By the knot of one, the spell’s begun…
by the knot of two, it cometh true…
by the knot of three, my will shall be…
by the knot of four, the power is more…
by the knot of five, my spell’s alive…
by the knot of six, the energies mix…
by the knot of seven, the future I leaven…
by the spell of eight, the power of fate…
by the power of nine, what’s done is mine!”

4. At intervals that you deem appropriate, begin threading 1 cord through the loop on your item, or tightly tying the item into the braid. Rotate the cord so that, if you begin with threading the first item onto the black cord, you’ll put the second onto the white, the third on the red, then start over again with the fourth. This way, no one cord is holding the bulk of the weight of the items. Rather; its distributed evenly. It looks better at the end, too

5. When you come to the end of your braiding, your last item should be added. Once that is done, knot the cords together.

6. You now have two choices. A) Some people tie their two ends together to make a loop. This would be helpful if you were going to use your ladder as a meditation tool. B) You can leave it long.
I most often add a hanging loop to one end & hang my witch's ladders in places around my home

7. Consecrate your item as you wish. Mine would probably spend the Samhain night on my altar after being spoken to, clearly, about my will for it.

8. Place as you will.

Enjoy!

Control Your Dreams

http://www.spellsandmagic.com/control-dreams.html

Spell to overcome depression

Overcome Depression Tools you will need are: Protection Incense (herbs or oils work fine also), Yellow taper Candle It is best to find a work area that you can leave untouched for three days. If you must put away your tools, try to at least keep your spell candle out in the open. This spell is used to uplift your energy and overcome depression. Read over this spell and customise it prior to use -the work will go much smoother. Prepare your work area by setting up any tools you may use. While setting up your area, concentrate on the purpose of your work. Imagine how good it feels to be happy. Do not let negative thoughts enter your mind! Just prior to your work, bathe in purification herbs, or with your favourite bath salts. While you are bathing, concentrate again on the purpose of your spell. Again, do not let negative thoughts enter your mind. After bathing, go to your work area. Cast a circle and light your incense. Envision a large, yellow ball of light surrounding you and your work area. Hold the yellow candle between the palms of your hands and direct all of your positive energy into the candle. Place the candle in its candle holder. Prior to lighting the candle, say (either aloud, or to yourself): "This candle represents the love and energy I have for myself" Light the candle and say (either aloud or to yourself): "As I light this candle, the veil of darkness that is ever present in my mind is lifting. The darkness ceases to exist as the light of this flame glows. Long has the darkness filled my mind, my desire to be happy is intense like the heat of fire. As this candle burns, my spirits are lifting and the negative energy is washing away. I will be happy, my life will be peaceful. I can see myself as I wish to be-happy and free!" Sit back and watch the candle burn. Meditate on how good if feels to be happy and envision the veil of darkness lifting. When the candle had burned 1/3 of the way, say: "As the flame of the candle is extinguished-the light burns forever in my mind" Blow out the candle. Repeat this for two more nights. On the last night, after the candle has burned away and the leftover wax has cooled-throw away the leftover wax into to trash and envision your depression being thrown away with the wax. You will overcome your depression!
